Building
To help protect the health and safety of the community, the Building Division regulates building, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical installations; accessibility; and energy compliance. In the event of an emergency or disaster, it is also the Division's responsibility to perform damage assessments of all structures.

The City of Half Moon Bay uses the online community development platform Cloudpermit for Building Permits and Inspections. So, you can complete the entire building permit process online on your phone, tablet or computer.
Building Counter Hours
City Hall and the Permit Counter are open Monday – Thursday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM. City Hall is closed to the public on Fridays.

Building Permit Fees
Permit fees will be collected through Cloudpermit using Clover payments, at the time the application is submitted. If you would like to know the permit fee in advance of submitting you application you can use the Master Fee Schedule . Note, for new buildings, ADU, residential remodels, tenant improvements and all those that require plan review, a plan check fee is collected.
