To apply for a residential solar permit, battery, and energy storage systems:
- Who can apply? Property owners, B, C-10 and C-46 contractors with an active California Contractor License.
- Should the work be performed by a qualified professional? Yes.
- Enter the property address. Symbium provides rich data about the property and its permit history.
- Click on the Rooftop Solar or Battery Storage Installation button. When you’re ready to apply for an instant solar permit, click on the Rooftop Solar or Battery Storage Installation button in the Property Improvements section.
- Answer questions about the proposed solar energy system. Symbium instantly checks for compliance with State and local regulations and provides substantive analysis of why (or why not) the project meets code requirements.
- Apply for a permit online. You don’t have to leave Symbium to submit and pay (online payment currently not available) for your permit application. Symbium even automatically verifies your contractor’s and business licenses. Symbium does have a processing fee, separate from the building permit fee.
- After we integrate Symbium with our Permit Tracking System, your permit will be issued in real-time, without an in-person visit or email processing. In the meantime, your submittal (already plan checked by Symbium) will be forwarded to our Building Permit Technician, whom in turn will process them as “over the counter” permits. After processing the application in our permit tracking system, applicants will get an invoice and payment instructions.
- Be sure that your Business License is up to date or apply for a new one here: https://halfmoonbay.hdlgov.com/
