Debbie Ruddock

Debbie Ruddock returned to public service in 2014 after an 11-year break, having previously served three terms on the City Council from 1991 to 2003, including two terms as Mayor. She was elected Mayor again in 2017 and re-elected to the Council in November 2018.

Currently, she serves as Mayor and is one of the City’s two representatives on the Sewer Authority Mid-Coastside, where she holds the position of Vice-Chair. Her regional involvement includes representing the City on the Association of Bay Area Governments, the San Mateo County Airport Land Use Committee, and the SFO Community Roundtable.

During her earlier tenure on the Council, she also served five years as an alternate member of the California Coastal Commission. Professionally, Debbie worked as a legislative analyst with the State Coastal Conservancy. She holds a Master’s degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Rochester.

Her current term concludes in December 2026.
