Downtown Streetscape Master Plan

The focus of the Downtown Streetscape Plan is to develop a vibrant but realistic vision for Downtown and Heritage Main Street that speaks to a community-oriented downtown district for the City of Half Moon Bay, its residents, business owners, and visitors. 

The Streetscape Master Plan will be based on community feedback for how people and vehicles get around downtown, parking, landscaping, furnishings, public art and more. The city has hired Toole Design, a nationally recognized urban design firm, to lead this important work and help imagine what is possible.

The Downtown Streetscape Master Plan is one of 15 recommendations resulting from the Coastside Recovery Initiative a community-driven economic recovery and development to build a more equitable, vibrant and resilient Coastside economy. The City allocated funds from its Capital Improvement Program to support phase one of the Downtown Streetscape Master Plan.

The initial phase of work and emphasis for this project will focus on the four central blocks of downtown Main Street (“Heritage Main Street” between the Main Street Bridge and Correas Avenue) and include improvements to pedestrian accessibility on Main Street from the Main Street Bridge on the north to Correas Street on the south. The Master Plan will include conceptual streetscape plans for all Main Street (from Highway 1 North Main Street to South Main Street) but detailed focus will be on Heritage Main Street.
