Master Fee Schedule

Overview

The City of Half Moon Bay maintains a Master Fee Schedule (MFS) That outlines the fees charged for a wide range of City services, permits, applications, and activities. These fees are updated periodically to ensure they reflect the cost of providing services to the community.

Purpose of the Master Fee Schedule

City fees are established to recover the reasonable cost of services, consistent with State law. The Master Fee Schedule helps ensure that:

  • Fees remain fair, transparent, and easy to understand
  • The cost of service delivery is shared appropriately between users and the community
  • The City maintains consistency with best practices and comparable jurisdictions

The schedule includes fees for services such as planning and development, public works, public safety, recreation, administrative services, and other programs.

Cost Recovery Approach

The City periodically reviews the cost of providing services to determine whether adjustments to the MFS are necessary. Fees are set to recover costs---not to generate profit---and are informed by operational needs, staffing, technology, and regulatory requirements.
